ACLAIM seeks to serve Government ministries and departments, Local Governments, Businesses, Donors, NGOs, Financial Institutions and MFIs (Microfinance Institutions) in Uganda and throughout Africa. Since 1995 when the company was incorporated, many assignments have been handled in Uganda as well as in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. In addition, participants in the company's training programmes have come from some 25 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. Challenges There are five particular challenges that ACLAIM Africa Limited seeks to address in its assignments, and which are: The Corporate challenge ACLAIM realises that the world is undergoing very rapid changes in knowledge, technology, tastes, etc. This requires deliberate strategies to maintain corporate vision and mission, to avoid corporate decline and or to revive a declining organisation. We promote the practice of planned change, and this is incorporated in our interventions in the projects and programmes that we manage The Productivity challenge ACLAIM recognizes that achieving industrially-driven growth with appropriate productivity levels is a formidable challenge for leadership in Africa. We join with other professionals in the quest for solutions to this challenge. No single solution works for all, but in discussions with each client a suitable strategy is agreed. We acknowledge that the nature of required actions to upgrade the economies of African countries, are aggregative and integrated, and we seek to promote the capacity building required to meet this challenge. The Management/Leadership challenge ACLAIM recognises that managers and leaders, however naturally endowed they are, all require training. Yet many have this responsibility thrust upon them when they are not adequately prepared for it. This leads to a management performance gap. This we seek to close through our training programmes, as well as providing technical assistance to build up the capacity of management. The Accountability challenge We at ACLAIM recognise the need for sound controls and systems in the utilisation and management of resources in organisations to minimise malpractices and promote a culture of transparency, accountability and effectiveness. In order to take away the burden of managing donor funds, and submitting timely financial reports, ACLAIM manages several clients’ accounts, releasing professionals to concentrate on their core activities including medical research, development work, and social work. The Human Resource Management challenge ACLAIM appreciates the need to have a productive human resource, which is both competent and motivated. Aclaim also recognises that human resource management practices in many organisations are not satisfactory. Thus, through training, technical assistance and consultancy, we seek to improve, support and strengthen those practices.
